Meet Ayoe Nissen – Hair and Make up artist – Interview

There are so many great talents behind all photo-shoots and one of them is Ayoe Nissen, hair and makeup artist. Ayoe started to work as a hairdresser in 2005 and in 2009 she decided to add make up to the trade. Since then, Ayoe has been busy working within the never sleeping fashion industry. Hafrun Karls met with Ayoe to have a little chat about the colorful fashion scene.

HK: What is your favorite thing about working within the never sleeping fashion industry?

AN: love how it keeps me energized and inspired. It keeps demanding that I renew and evolve. There’s no creative standstill, there’s only motion. It can be exhausting at times, but mostly I find it invigorating?

HK: Do you have a favorite “make up look” at the moment?

AN: I am a sucker for the luminous, dewy or even full on shiny skin combined with a simple makeup. I love the healthy glow it gives the face. I love how it works with a bold lip (like at Missioni SS15 show at NYFW) or even with a nude look (like Jil Sander SS15 at NYFW)
I also have to admit that I have a weak spot for the rough looking 90′ies eyeliner framing the eye. It reminds my very much of my teenage years.

HK: If you could choose one model to work with who would it be and why?

AN: I would love to work with Lindsey Wixson. She has this amazingly weird and beautiful Chinadoll face. It makes my mind overflow with makeup ideas.

HK: Do you have any advice for young up and coming, who wants to work in your field?

AN: Keep working hard and evolving your talents, you never stop learning and it keeps the job exiting. And it doesn’t hurt to find someone established to assist either.
