Faustine Steinmetz is an up and coming Parisian designer based in London. She reproduces iconic pieces, like classic denim jackets and Levi’s jeans, garments anyone has or has had in their wardrobe. Except they are all made from scratch. With focus on treating the fabric as a canvas for creating a new form of textile, all materials are hand woven and each and every piece is handcrafted. Faustine has this way of working where she wants to show how garments are actutally made from scratch, not made in a factory somewhere in China, kind of the idea of tradition against industry. With craftsmanship, intensive discipline, and integrity to her own vision she creates series of garments which are familiar, but yet new. Amazing designer and a true innovator. I am definitely going to watch her in the future!
