The Netherlands-based photography duo Maurits Giesen and Ilse Leenders turn themselves into anonymous twins in their monochromatic photo series Mimicry. The collection of photos is inspired by the uniformity of human beings, portrayed by the use of the similar costumes, positions, colors and gender. As the photographers state, the people they are depicting in their work tend to be lone characters, who may remain otherwise unnoticed in our technologically dependent lives. For Mimicry, GIESENLEENDERS communicate the idea that the characters are hiding for something or someone, but keep it open for the viewers imagination.
