LFW SS16 – Rena Sala Showroom

London Fashion Week just came to an end last Tuesday and after I took a break from it the last two seasons, it was fun to be back!

I was very happy to have been invited to some of my favorite designers shows and presentations, and also got my first job styling a runway show for designers Youjia Jin. Such a fun and exhilarating experience and definitely something I can imagine doing again come next season.

One of my favorite days was when I popped to the Rena Sala showroom at the BFC showrooms at Brewer Street. I got to see some familiar faces such as Jenny Sweetnam, Daniel Cerdán and Rena herself. Rena also showed me some of her new clients and the ones that especially caught my eye were Sophie WallgrenAlighieri, jewellery designer, and Bedouin Studios, clothing brand.

Sophie Wallgren is a Swedish jewellery designer with a background in business, but after migrating to London and attending a jewellery design course at Central Saint Martins, she launched her own label in 2015. Sophies designs are very minimalistic, simplistic and designed to last and stay wearable for a lifetime. Also focusing on quality and longevity, to further stretch these points of her design ethics. She’s a designer who I can’t wait to follow and see her designs and style develope, and I also can’t wait to use them for my styling!

Alighieri is designed by Rosh Mathani, and her pieces are inspired by Dante Alighieri’s ‘Divine Comedy’; each piece corresponds to one of the poet’s 100 poems. As the pilgrim journeys through the realms of Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise, he encounters mythical creatures, scraggy landscapes, and terrifying demons. Each piece tells a story of adventure and battered creatures.

Bedouin Studios describes itself as “style without borders” and the label is based in both London and Dubai. The name originally means a dweller of the desert, sustainable and independant communities living their lives without borders. Designed by Andraya Farrag, a Central Saint Martins graduate, she strives to make pieces the can be worn with a sense of ease for a free thinking woman who is confident and spontaneous.
