Lapidarium A/W 16 Lookbook
LAPIDARIUM is a brand launched by two London College of Fashion graduates Marta Gos and Martyna Sobczak. Lapidarium main inspiration is nature and contemporary artists, whose visual vocabulary are vivid colour compositions with vertiginous, abstract, playful lines.
Majority of Lapidarium prints and textiles are handmade, using various experimental techniques. The label uses certified organic fabrics and recycled materials. The collections are lovingly and ethically produced in their London studio. The aim of the brand is to bring socially and environmentally conscious fashion to high-end audience.
Lapidarium plans to develop recycling programs with fabric suppliers and work on sustainability through fabric development and waste management processes at the same time creating timeless, unique pieces for modern and conscious customers.
The inspiration for their A/W 16 collection was modern femininity, influenced by Bianca Jagger style. The look juxtaposing sleek menswear ideas, disco, fashion fit and 1970s glam were their main focus.
The print inspiration were organic textures, seen around us, transformed into more abstract way. All printed textiles are handmade by the screen printing studio in South London.
The collection involves red velvet in a strong, red shade and wool magenta pieces, that are intertwined with navy wools, made in the UK. All trims create a more sporty-luxe glam feeling, with metal, circle trims used onto unexpected parts of garments.
Designers were also using a special technique in creating their silver pieces, which are made of recycled offcuts, of different fabrics waste like silks, cotton and linen blends, in metallic colours. These were handmade by designers themselves in their North-East London studio.
