Iceland Airwaves 2016- Pictures
Iceland Airwaves- not a disappointment, like usually.
The Wednesday started out amazingly with GKR, Sturla Atlas, Reykjavíkurdætur, Emmsjé Gauti and the oh so fun Dizzie Rascal. The perfect lineup to start up the festival.
Thursday gave us the best of rock. Singapore Sling, Fufanu and Sonics were extraordinary. And to calm you down a bit a popping by to Harpa Norðurljós next doors to check out East Of My Youth and Conner Youngblood was essential.
The i-D stage at Harpa Silfurberg on Friday was the place to be. Dream Wife, Warpaint and Santigold rocked my night. And of course you had to rush over to the nostalgic stage at Nasa with a quick stop at Reykjavik Art Museum for the amazing Vök to witness the flawless performance of Of Monsters and Men.
RnB and Hip& Hop was the genre of Saturday night. Valshöllin brought to us Emil Stabil, The Internet, Digable Planets, Úlfur Úlfur and Aron Can. This Saturday night had to end on an unmissable treat- the powerful performances from CHINAH and Sykur at my favourite venue Gamla Bíó.
And what a good way to end this festival with Kevin Morby, Mammút and PJ Harvey!
The bands that I wished I had been able to lay my ears and eyes on were THROWS, Hannah Lou Clark, Nap Eyes, Middle Kids, Jesse Mac Cormack, Frankie Cosmos, FEWS, jennylee and Lowly which are bands that will definitely go far on the near future! When you have a beautiful festival with 250 beautiful bands, unfortunately you will not be able to see everything.
Iceland Airwaves- always on point! Can´t wait for next year!
